Robert Zemeckis to direct Brad Pitt in a sweeping romantic thriller

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

In a team-up that is sure to grab your attention, Brad Pitt will star in the next film from acclaimed director Robert Zemeckis. While the title and plot are unknown at this point, we do know the film is being called a “sweeping romantic thriller” and comes from a screenplay by Steve Knight. Knight directed the great LOCKE with Tom Hardy and is responsible for writing THE HUNDRED-FOOT JOURNEY and DIRTY PRETTY THINGS along with the upcoming action film THE RED CIRCLE.

When I think of Robert Zemeckis, I instantly think of movies like BACK TO THE FUTURE, FORREST GUMP, and WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT?. In recent years, Zemeckis has worked in motion capture with movies like A CHRISTMAS CAROL, BEOWULF, and THE POLAR EXPRESS. His last film, FLIGHT, was Oscar-nominated, and his next, THE WALK, looks like it will be a stellar IMAX experience.

Pitt has been doing a lot of work behind the camera in recent years, building quite the resume as a producer. He still manages to work in front of the camera in movies like WORLD WAR Z. Aside from starring in films for his wife, Pitt and Zemeckis teaming up has the potential to be not only box office gold but maybe an instant awards contender. Without knowing more about the plot it is hard to say what we should expect but I think we are probably safe to say this should stay on your radar.

Here is what is coming soon from the pair: Robert Zemeckis‘ THE WALK hits theaters on October 2nd while Brad Pitt will co-star with wife/director Angelina Jolie in BY THE SEA later this year.
