Just last week I gave you all the heads up on Wes Craven’s next flick, 25/8. Well it looks like Rogue Pictures have also heard of it.
According to Variety, Rogue’s given the greenlight for Craven’s 25/8 and the remake of George A. Romero’s THE CRAZIES.
THE CRAZIES was made in 1972 and follows a small Pennsylvania burg terrorized after a plane crash drops a biological weapon into the water. Breck Eisner will be directing the remake with a script from Ray Wright. Michael Aguilar and Dean Georgaris will be producing with Romero himself executive producing.
As for 25/8, according to Craven himself, 25/8 unveils a signature villain, a serial killer who turns up 15 years after his purported death, to kill the seven children born on that fateful night. Craven also had the following to say:
“It’s more a thriller than slasher film, and revolves around a young kid with a very dark past involving his family and his father.”
Sounds like Craven’s attempting to make another badass villain like Freddy Krueger and Horace Pinker. It sounds like SCREAM with more emphasis on the villain. I’m definately down!
25/8 will be written and directed by Craven with Iya Labunka producing. The flick is set to start production in April.
On a totally random note, Craven also had the following to say regarding the NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET remake/ reboot/ reimagining/ rewhater currently in the making:
“My baby has fallen into the hands of others, and what can I say but wish them luck.”
The beautiful Parker Posey starred in Wes Craven’s SCREAM 3.
