Our dear genre has taken quite a beating of late at the box office in terms of unrealistic expectations and generally ill-conceived crap. It looks like this weekend just might bring a turn around though.
THE EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE is currently tracking well with men and women under 25, and has a good shot at opening numero uno. Even though it’s a meaningless marker of a film’s success (money made vs. cost being the true marker), perception is king in Hollywood. A Number One opening could definitely get some people to shut their yaps about the death of horror.
Now the PG-13 rating is unfortunate since many will take the wrong lesson from it, but I’ll live with it. EmRose looks like a solid good time from what I’ve seen so far and I can’t wait to see it.
Seems pretty clear that I’m not the only one.
