Roth dials Cell

Eli Roth has signed on to direct CELL for Dimension after he completes HOSTEL 2. The project is an adaptation of Stephen King’s most recent novel, which by all accounts is one of his best to date.

The premise is that, in a single moment, a pulse sent out through cell phones around the world turns every phone user into a crazed, murderous zombie.

Given the inconsistent history of filmic versions of King’s work, it’s great to know that Roth will take the reins. The concept is certainly strong enough to warrant A-class talent, though I have to say that I spend enough time in the DC/NOVA annex to see people well on their way to being crazed, semi-murderous zombies without any intervention from a pulse.
