One thing that always tickles me pink is when an Academy Award winner dips into our beloved genre. If the same thing strikes your fancy you may like what I’m about to tell you!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Academy Award winner Bruce Joel Rubin has been tapped to adapt the the Japanese film YOMIGAERI (RESURRECTION) for DreamWorks. Instead of RESURRECTION the US remake will coin the title RAINBOW BRIDGE, which Rubin has already penned ‘an elaborate treatment’ for. It’s also being said Rubin will be adding the ’emotionally centered take’ to the film that he’s known for.
GLADIATOR’s William Nicholson was originally hired to adapt the screenplay but it seems DreamWorks just weren’t feeling his take. The original film was a supernaturally themed pic that centered on a town in which people who have been dead for decades come back to life. Instead of engaging in zombie behavior, though, the townspeople simply return to their normal lives as though nothing changed. That actually sounds pretty f*cking spooky…
