Perhaps take this with a grain of salt but there could be some truth to this rumor given the releases. A rumor has come out from The Ankler, via The Direct, that the trailer for Avatar 2 is attached to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which hits screens on May 6, 2022.

The Ankler’s Jeff Sneider reported the news and it was subsequently picked up by The Direct. It would make sense for a trailer to be attached to the highly anticipated sequel because they’re both owned by Disney and the Doctor Strange sequel is likely to be one of the biggest movies of the year. Why not use one of your blockbusters to promote another? Even though Avatar 2 is coming off its predecessor which is the biggest global hit of all time, it has still been 13 years since the first film was released. Reigniting interest is very key here.

Per the synopsis for the Doctor Strange sequel, “In Marvel Studios’ “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” the MCU unlocks the Multiverse and pushes its boundaries further than ever before. Journey into the unknown with Doctor Strange, who, with the help of mystical allies both old and new, traverses the mind-bending and dangerous alternate realities of the Multiverse to confront a mysterious new adversary.” The film stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, Michael Stühlbarg, and Rachel McAdams.

As for Avatar 2, the exact plot is still under wraps but Zoe Saldana, who stars in the film, said she was moved to tears by watching the first 20 minutes of the upcoming James Cameron film. The director has also teased as many as four sequels that will continue the story so we can expect to be in this universe for quite some time.

Do YOU think the Avatar 2 trailer is attached to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness?
