Rupert Friend

Yesterday it was announced that Katie Holmes will be starring in William Brent Bell's sequel to his 2016 film THE BOY… and that wasn't the only Bell announcement that was made yesterday. Right before the THE BOY 2 news hit, a press release was sent out to let us know that Rupert Friend, an actor best known for his role on the Showtime television series Homeland, has signed on to star in Bell's film SEPARATION.

Filming will begin in New York next month.

Bell is directing SEPARATION from a script written by Nick Amadeus and Joshua Braun. He is also producing the film alongside Yale Productions' Jordan Yale Levine, Jordan Beckerman, Russ Posternak, and Jesse Korman, and RainMaker's Clay Pecorin and Russell Geyster. Seth Posternak and Dennis Rice serve as executive producers, with Yale's Jon Keeyes co-producing.

Said be equally inspired by the family drama KRAMER VS. KRAMER and the supernatural thrillers THE SIXTH SENSE and MAMA, the film will explore

the horrifying consequences of divorce like no film before.

That's all they're letting us know about the plot for now. Bell had this to say about the screenplay:

As soon as I read Nick and Josh’s script I knew I found my next project. It blends emotional, relatable family drama with edge-of-your-seat scares and Rupert is the ideal actor to bring both aspects to life."

I haven't seen Rupert Friend in much, but he is an actor I'm interested in mainly because I'm a fan of the James Bond movies, and I've heard that he made a good screen test for Bond back when they were looking for the star of 2006's CASINO ROYALE. So if he was a good Bond in that screen test, he must be an actor worth watching.
