Ever since Disney absorbed 20th Century Fox into its Magic Kingdom there haven’t been any concrete plans announced for all the new superhero properties it’s acquired, especially any regarding how they will be factored into the Marvel Universe. The trickiest to nail will surely be the R-rated DEADPOOL series starring Ryan Reynolds, but although the plans for more DP seem to be on a slight hold for the moment, that didn’t stop the actor from still taking a meeting with the mighty Marvel Studios.

Reynolds took to social media to tease his meeting with the folks behind the biggest movie franchise ever, throwing in a cheeky caption for good measure. “Auditioned for the role of “Anthony Stark”. Didn’t come even remotely close, but the nice man with the taser escorted me to the ground,” he wrote.

Fun and games aside, there has been some talk of just how Marvel could possibly integrate the typically non-Disney friendly Deadpool into the MCU, having to ditch his foul mouth for PG-13 fare. Writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick recently spoke with our own JimmyO about the prospect of bringing the Merc With a Mouth into the MCU, and the team talked about how Disney knows just what kind of property Deadpool is.

I think the good news is, I think Marvel knows what they have in the property," Wernick said. "There is a promise that we're going to continue to explore DEADPOOL and its R-rated universe. And then the great news, the great wrinkle on top of that is that, you know, moving forward, the hope is that we get to jump into the MCU sandbox a little bit and play with some of their toys too and bring DEADPOOL into that world."

Despite the classic silly caption from Reynolds, this seems to be a pretty clear hint that there are meetings being had about the future of Deadpool in the Marvel Universe. Even Disney CEO said there is a place for R-rated DEADPOOL movies at Disney, as long as they could be marketed the right way. Considering the two movies have made over $1 billion worldwide it would be foolish for Disney to put such a popular character on the back burner, so at least everyone is trying to figure out a path forward. On the positive side, Deadpool and Cap can become best friends considering they look pretty similar now.
