Here’s a big surprise to no one.
Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana are back for the AVATAR sequels. The films will be shot back to back which made for a bigger commitment for the actors to sign on for. It’s not simply a trilogy, it’s a quad. Stephen Lang was already locked on to reprise his role as the baddie, Miles Quaritch.
Cameron will be assissted by not one but three writers: Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, and Shane Salerno. What do we know about the plot of the next three films? Back in December, the director said this:
It was very Jake-centric. His story seen through his eyes. We spread it around quite a bit more as we go forward. It’s really the story of his family, the family that he creates on Pandora. His extended family. So think of it as a family saga like ‘The Godfather.
I liked the visuals and 3D effects of the film more than the story. At times the story was a little corny for me, and kept reminding me of POCAHONTAS and DANCES WITH WOLVES. Yes, I know everyone says that but it’s true.
AVATAR 2 hits theaters December 2016.
