It seems Sam Worthington has quickly become the go-to guy for big adventure flicks huh? It’s no surprise considering the dude is one phenomenal actor and just starred in the highest grossing movie of all time. He’s got to be doing something right. And that’s exactly why he’ll be going on another massive adventure soon!
According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision Blog, Mr. Worthington has just signed on to star in QUATERMAIN, a reimagining of the classic literary hero Allan Quatermain with a sci-fi twist. Not only will Worthington be starring in the feature, but he’ll also be making his producing debut! You ready for the details?
QUATERMAIN is set in a time in which humans have left Earth and sees Quatermain return to the planet from a sojourn in space, embarking on another “King Solomon’s Mines”-style adventure but on a planetwide scale.
So an old school ‘lost treasure’ type of adventure that’s going to span over several planets? Sh*t I’m down! Now QUATERMAIN is being worked off a script that Mark Verheiden pounded out last year. No word on any names for the director’s chair yet though we do know that Alfred Gough and Miles Millar will both be producing alongside Worthington.
QUATERMAIN is strictly in the development stages right now so there’s no telling how eager Worthington and company are to get this one started. I suppose we’ll find out when a director is announced!
So what do you guys think? Are you excited to see Worthington traveling all over this universe looking for some hidden treasure? Of course you are! Hit us with your thoughts on the project below and as always, keep it here for more on QUATERMAIN as we hear it!
