Slasher film franchises are usually or increasingly like the blood-thirsty protagonists they showcase: they just won’t die! Although the original Jigsaw apparently IS dead…Sorry if I spoiled that for y’all. Can’t say I’m a big fan of those films, but I respect their tenacity.
With the trailer out for SAW VI and recent news that one more chapter is considered, Variety reports that Lionsgate confirmed the greenlight for next year’s 7th entry in the bloody puzzles series. David Hackl, production designer for numbers II, III and IV as well as bigwig on V will return behind the camera on VII, with a script by Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton who also wrote IV, V and VI after rising from the “FEAST” of Project Greenlight. Is there a name for a 7-films franchise? An Heptology???
