Saw sequel is no longer Legacy, now titled Jigsaw

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

While I thought SAW: LEGACY was a fine title for the upcoming SAW sequel from directors Michael and Peter Spierig, Lionsgate obviously disagreed and have decided to take a different approach. An approach along the lines of the ROCKY series going from ROCKY V to ROCKY BALBOA. The next SAW movie isn't going to be called SAW VIII, SAW 8, or SAW followed by a subtitle.

The next SAW movie has officially been titled JIGSAW.

Although Tobin Bell, the actor who played Jigsaw in every previous SAW film, is in the cast of this new sequel, it's not clear what the character will be doing in it since he died several sequels ago.

Scripted by Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger, the story of JIGSAW is said to begin with

bodies turning up around the city, each having met a uniquely gruesome demise. As the investigation proceeds, evidence points to one man: John Kramer. But how can this be? The man known as Jigsaw has been dead for over a decade. Or has an apprentice picked up the mantle of Jigsaw, perhaps even someone inside the investigation?

Bell's co-stars include Laura Vandervoort (pictured below), Hannah Anderson, Mandela Van Peebles, Brittany Allen, Callum Keith Rennie, Matt Passmore, Josiah Black, Shaquan Lewis, Michael Bolsvert, and James Gomez.

Rated R for "sequences of grisly bloody violence and torture, and for language", JIGSAW is scheduled to reach theatres on October 27, 2017

This one promises to take "the Jigsaw killer’s signature brand of twisted scenarios to the next level."
