IGN is confirming reports that have been bandied about various sites in relation to three castmembers from the SAW franchise returning for Part V. Now, I have not yet seen Part IV so these are sort of SPOILERS for me, as they may be for you – so if you haven’t seen the last entry, maybe you shouldn’t read any further. That said, at this point we should all be used to the series dragging out characters from the prior movies to participate one way or the other in the new ones, so it may not be that big of a deal.
Tobin Bell (Jigsaw – no surprise there), Scott Patterson (Agent Strahm) and Costas Mandylor (Detective Hoffman) will all return for the latest go-round, to be helmed by production designer-turned-director David Hackl and written by Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan. Of course, it will hit theaters around Halloweentime.
And as I reported earlier, Lionsgate – SAW’s production house – just struck a deal with the WGA, so they can do any rewriting necessary when SAW V goes into production March 17.
