SEXY BEAST helmer Jonathan Glazer and Scarlett Johansson might be teaming up on what could either be an engrossing sci-fi horror tale or a hilarious camp classic; either way, this project sounds like a gem, and I want it now.

It’s called UNDER THE SKIN, and it’s based on Michel Faber’s novel of the same name. In it, Johansson would play Isserley, a female driver who picks up hitchhikers with big muscles. Scarred and awkward, yet strangely erotic and threatening, she listens to her hitchhikers as they open up to her, revealing clues about who might miss them if they should disappear…

That’s just the set up, because it turns out this chick isn’t exactly from around here, and she’s bringing her hitchhikers back to a mysterious “farm” for their body parts…

According to Deadline.com, FilmNation has announced it will handle international sales for the flick at AFM. It should be noted that Scarlett is just “attached”, meaning there’s no guarantee that she’ll be playing the seductive alien.

FilmNation CEO Glen Basner had this to say: “We’re so excited to be working on this arrestingly original movie. How could we pass up the chance to work with a visionary director like Jonathan, especially when combined with the intriguing notion of Scarlett Johansson as a ruthless alien seductress?”

How could you indeed… Hopefully we will be hearing more on UNDER THE SKIN very, very soon…
