One flick that should be on your radar if it isn’t already is the sci-fi horror flick SPLICE from director Vincenzo Natali, starring Adrien Brody, Sarah Polley, and David Hewlett. Not only is the word of the mouth really positive for this sucker right now, but it simply looks hella cool (check out the trailer HERE).
From the sounds of it, SPLICE is a fairly hardcore little flick, but after Warner Bros. snatched it up, you may have had thoughts of severe editing of content for a more ‘family friendly’ version. Well no worries, as the MPAA slapped SPLICE with its official rating today, and it appears to be anything but family friendly.
SPLICE is now officially rated R for disturbing elements including strong sexuality, nudity, sci-fi violence and language. Nothing like sex and violence to start the day off right! We should all be thanking WB for leaving it in its original cut of awesomeness….
SPLICE goes a bit like this: Elsa and Clive, two young rebellious scientists, defy legal and ethical boundaries and forge ahead with a dangerous experiment: splicing together human and animal DNA to create a new organism. Named “Dren”, the creature rapidly develops from a deformed female infant into a beautiful but dangerous winged human-chimera, who forges a bond with both of her creators – only to have that bond turn deadly.
Check out SPLICE in all of its R rated glory on June 4th, when it slams into theaters everywhere.
