Remember when I told you guys to get ready for the onslaught of SCREAM 4 updates that would be coming our way? Well folks I wasn’t just whistling dixie. In the past 24 hours we’ve seen no less than 3 SCREAM 4 updates! Three articles in a day. That’s pretty intense. You know what’s even crazier? Four articles in one day! Booya!
Fresh off the news that Lauren Graham would be leaving the project, it seems three new names have just signed on! Not a bad swap huh? Three for one. The kicker? You probably recognize all three of the new cast memebers. Ready for the skinny?
According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog the latest names to join Wes Craven on another Ghostface adventure are Marley Shelton, Adam Brody and Erik Knudsen (all above). According to the site, Brody will play a cop recently graduated from college who was raised on the “CSI” TV series while Shelton (below) scoops up the role formerly eyed by Lake Bell, a deputy who knew Neve Campbell’s character in high school. Knudsen will have a role similar to the one played by Jamie Kennedy in the first two installments, a character who is familiar with horror movie conventions and a provider of comic relief.
So that’s three ‘Randy Meeks-like’ characters, if anyone is counting. Hell that’s fine by me considering he was my favorite character of the franchise… but it does have me a little worried. Three geeky movie characters? I get the feeling we’re in store for a mess of genre flick references. On a side note, it seems Craven and Williamson are going that extra mile to try and keep the killer’s identity off these here interwebs. They’re not sending the script to agencieis and even had the actors stop at page 75 at a recent table read. Here’s hoping they’re able to keep that shite under wraps!
Brody, Shelton and Knudsen join Neve Campbell, Emma Roberts, Rory Culkin, David Arquette, Courteney Cox, Hayden Pannetiere (below), Anthony Anderson, Lauren Graham, Marielle Jaffe, Nico Tortorella and Erica Hubbard in SCREAM 4, which is now filming in Michigan.
