Scream 6: Jenna Ortega is excited about the chase scenes, reminiscent of Scream 2

Returning Scream 2022 star Jenna Ortega has previously said that Scream 6 (which is set to reach theatres on March 10, 2023) is going to be “action-heavy” and “gore-heavy”… and now she has revealed that some of the action we’ll be seeing in the new sequel includes standout chase scenes.

Speaking at the Celebration of Latino Cinema & Television event, Ortega said, “I’m so excited about (Scream 6) because there’s a lot of good chase sequences. Kind of reminiscent of, like, in Scream 2 there was a chase between Gale and Ghostface through the lab. I feel like we have a lot of stuff like that in the second one.“

Set in New York City, Scream 6 was actually filmed in Montreal. Directed by Scream 2022 directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett from a screenplay by Scream 2022 writers James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick, this one will show us what happens when

the four survivors of the Ghostface killings leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter.

Those four survivors are the Scream 2022 characters played by returning stars Melissa Barrera (as Samantha Carpenter), Jasmin Savoy Brown (as Mindy Meeks-Martin), Mason Gooding (as Mindy’s brother Chad Meeks-Martin), and Jenna Ortega (as Sam’s sister Tara Carpenter). Courteney Cox is reprising the role of Gale Weathers. Jack Champion, Liana Liberato, Devyn Nekoda, Josh Segarra, Samara Weaving, Tony Revolori, Dermot Mulroney, and Henry Czerny have also been cast in unspecified roles. And Scream 4‘s Hayden Panettiere is back as Kirby Reed. According to YouTuber Critical Overlord, it looks like Thomas Cadrot might be in the cast as well.

Vanderbilt is producing Scream 6 with Paul Neinstein and William Sherak for Project X Entertainment. Original Scream screenwriter Kevin Willamson serves as executive producer alongside Chad Villella, Ron Lynch, Cathy Konrad, Marianne Maddalena, and Spyglass’s Gary Barber and Peter Oillataguerre.

A lot of Scream fans, including myself, hold the Gale chase in Scream 2 in high regard, so it’s cool to hear there are sequences like that in Scream 6. Are you looking forward to the chase scenes in this one? Let us know by leaving a comment below.
