Earlier today, we shared the news that Paramount Pictures is celebrating the 25th anniversary of Wes Craven’s classic 1996 slasher Scream (watch it HERE) by giving the film a 4K Ultra HD release on October 19th (buy it HERE), with a 4K steelbook (get that HERE) and a new Blu-ray (that’s HERE) also arriving on that date. But that’s not the only way Paramount is celebrating the anniversary. Before those discs reach store shelves, the studio is also teaming up with Fathom Events to bring Scream back to the big screen on October 10th and 11th!

Tickets for the Fathom Events screenings will be available at THIS LINK and at participating theatres as of August 20th. A complete list of locations is available on their website. Here’s some information on the screenings:

“Scream 25th Anniversary” will play in select movie theaters on Sunday, October 10 at 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., and Monday, October 11 at 7:00 p.m. (all times local). Fans who attend the special event will also be treated to a behind-the-scenes look at the film featuring vintage interviews with Wes Craven, Kevin Williamson, Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and more.

Directed by Craven from a screenplay by Williamson, Scream has the following synopsis:

Wes Craven re-invented and revitalised the slasher-horror genre with this modern horror classic, which manages to be funny, clever and scary, as a fright-masked knife maniac stalks high-school students in middle-class suburbia. Craven is happy to provide both tension and self-parody as the body count mounts – but the victims aren’t always the ones you’d expect.

Campbell and Cox are joined in the cast by David Arquette, Jamie Kennedy, Skeet Ulrich, Matthew Lillard, Rose McGowan, W. Earl Brown, Drew Barrymore, Joseph Whipp, and Henry Winkler.

Fathom Events’ Tom Lucas had this to say about the screening event:

When it comes to suspenseful horror films of the ‘90s, ‘Scream’ revitalized the genre and created a global franchise. Film fans should get ready and buckle up for a fiendishly clever ride this Halloween season at their local theater!”

Scream was originally released on December 20, 1996. I still remember seeing the film during its opening weekend and being blown away. It would be great to see it on the big screen again after all these years, with a crowd of fans.
