MTV set to bring Scream to the small screen

According to THR it looks like MTV is going to move forward with a pilot based on Wes Craven’s SCREAM franchise. So whether you wanted a SCREAM television series or not, it’s definitely happening and it might even see Craven himself direct the pilot — which would actually be pretty damn cool.

The series will be produced with Dimension Films as MTV currently looks for writers for the one-hour project. If it gets a series order, the show would be slated for a summer 2014 launch and will see it joining the likes of “Teen Wolf” and “Awkward”.

I’m pretty confident that this will get a full series order simply because the franchise is so damn popular. Not only have we been seeing a ton of horror themed shows coming to the small screen as of late, but they’ve actually been successful which tells us that people are really digging what the horror genre has to offer. Hopefully, if we do see a full series order for SCREAM, it finds the same success as MTV’s other shows because it’d be pretty wicked to see the franchise thrive as a tv series.
