Holy Hell, this is some cool news involving Danielle Harris (above), Heather Langenkamp (below), and Ellie Cornell (below)! If you don’t recognize at least one of those names, get the hell off this site! However, I’m sure that, just like me, your eyes opened wide when you saw those three ladies in the same sentence. The reason for the grouping? Each will be directing a segment for the upcoming anthology horror flick, PRANK. Sounds like another f*cking April Fool’s joke, right? Well, it ain’t! This trio of sultry scream queens is stepping behind the camera for the first time ever!
PRANK is being produced by Anthony Masi and Thommy Hutson. Regarding its plot, Masi explains, “We came up with the idea of stories revolving around pranks that go terribly wrong. In one story, a group of friends are playing a game where they dial seven-letter names. One girl dials her own name and reaches a guy who decides to turn the tables on her. In the second, a woman is waiting for her boyfriend to come home. Things start happening, paranoia sets in and then the phone rings… The third is set at a ’60s-themed murder-mystery party, where people really start dying and the killer turns out to be somebody from one of the partygoers’ past. The wraparound concerns an editor and cub reporter doing research late at night who come upon these stories. Of course, something will happen to them as well.”
The idea of interconnected horror tales seems to be the latest genre movie craze with upcoming fare like TRICK ’R TREAT and AMUSEMENT following similar suits. And that’s All Good in my book! Not sure which actress will be directing what, but that doesn’t seem to concern Masi: ”Sure, it’s a hell of a gimmick,” he says, “and that’s one of PRANK’s big selling points. We’ve got the women from the HALLOWEEN and NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET movies directing their first films, and everybody loves these gals.”
And any fears regarding Danielle, Heather, and Ellie’s novice directorial statuses have been laid to rest. “They’ve never done this before, but we have a lot of faith in them,” Masi says. “One thing I can tell you is that there will definitely be a lot of estrogen in this film.” Hopefully by “estrogen,” he means lots of boobies!
