Seance trailer: Suki Waterhouse stars in Simon Barrett’s giallo slasher

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

A trailer has arrived online for the "horror whodunit" Seance, the feature directorial debut of You're Next and The Guest writer Simon Barrett, and you can watch the trailer in the embed above! Seance is set to reach theatres and VOD on May 21st, and will be available to watch on the Shudder streaming service later in the year.

The film stars Suki Waterhouse as Camille, a "young woman who arrives at the prestigious  Edelvine Academy for Girls following one of the student's untimely and violent death."

The new student discovers that being hazed by her fellow pupils is the least of her concerns.

Waterhouse's co-stars include Inanna Sarkis as Alice, "a first-class mean girl who stages a seance as a joke that sparks a rash of murders with an apparent supernatural twist", and Madisen Beaty as Bethany, "a top student at the school who joins the girls in holding a seance." Also in the cast are Ella-Rae Smith, Seamus Patterson, and Marina Stephenson-Kerr.

Describing the film as a "giallo slasher throwback", Barrett told Entertainment Weekly this is

a murder mystery set at a girls boarding school where a young woman recently died. Our hero moves into her dorm room, which is believed to be haunted, and sets about trying to find out what happened."

As a fan of movies Barrett has written, I'm looking forward to checking out Seance.
