Thanks to the critical and commercial success of Leigh Whannell's THE INVISIBLE MAN, the Universal Monsters are staged for a comeback after the disaster which was THE MUMMY, and one of the next to get the reboot-treatment is none other than the Prince of Darkness himself, Dracula.

It was announced in March that Karyn Kusama, best known for THE INVITATION and DESTROYER, is slated to direct a DRACULA film for Blumhouse Productions with Matt Manfredi and Phil Hay set to pen the script. While things are obviously on hold at the moment thanks to COVID-19, Kusama already has one actor campaigning for the title role – Sebastian Stan. While speaking with THR, Stan said that he's already been in touch with the director about playing Dracula in the film.

I already emailed her about that. I said, “You know I’m from Romania, right?” and she goes, “Yes, yes, it’s very early — and there’s a pandemic. Hopefully, we’ll see you in four years.” (Laughs.)

Sebastian Stan has already worked with Kusama once before, as he played an undercover FBI agent in DESTROYER alongside Nicole Kidman. Unlike the whole Dark Universe concept, this new slate of Universal Monster movies will move away from an interconnected universe and instead focus on bringing in creative directors with distinctive visions for the classic monsters. What do you folks think? Would Sebastian Stan make a good Dracula?

Sebastian Stan was most recently seen in THE LAST FULL MEASURE, a war drama which found the actor playing Pentagon staffer Scott Huffman as he fought to award the Medal of Honor to William H. Pitsenbarger, a U.S. Air Force Pararescueman who flew in helicopter rescue missions during the Vietnam War to aid downed soldiers and pilots. Stan will also be reprising his role of Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier for The Falcon and the Winter Solider, a Marvel Cinematic Universe TV which is slated to debut on Disney+. Stan will star alongside Anthony Mackie, and production on the series was nearing its end before it was forced to shutdown due to COVID-19. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is expected to debut in August 2020, but that date could very well be pushed back.
