Barely a week has gone by since the trailer for THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL arrived in theaters (check that out HERE), and already the hype for the remake has begun.

There’s so much hype that MTV Movies Blog had DTESS director Scott Derrickson talk and discuss the film’s trailer, in hopes to answer some of the questions fans everywhere are dying to know. Like…

The last shot in the trailer is a hero shot, although strangely not of Keanu Reeve’s character Klaatu, but of his trusty robot Gort.

There is certainly the issue being addressed in the movie of our treatment of one another on the planet. I think it’s a movie about human nature as much as anything else and how human nature is acting itself out in the world right now.

[Jennifer Connelly]’s actually a professor at Princeton University and she’s a microbiologist and she’s recruited early in the movie for an event that’s clearly occurring. She’s recruited by the government whether she likes it or not, really.

You’re dying to know more about it aren’t you? Well never fear, all you have to do is head THIS WAY and you can check out all of Derrickson’s thoughts on the trailer that you have been dying to know… or not really care about, but you’d be interested to hear anyway. Be sure to watch the trailer below as a refresher, and get for THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL in theaters everywhere December 12th.
