20th Century Fox has just secured the movie rights to the classic/brilliant/all-around-awesome TV show “Sesame Street.” If you don’t know what “Sesame Street” is, let me know and I’ll happily help you hunt down your lost childhood.
Longtime show writer Joey Mazzarino will take up scripting duties with Shawn Levy (REAL STEEL, NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM) producing. Sesame Workshop, the company currently running the show, will also be involved in a producerial capacity.
The adventures of Elmo and friends have been seen on the big screen twice since the show’s TV debut in 1969, the first time with 1985’s FOLLOW THAT BIRD and the second with 1999’s THE ADVENTURES OF ELMO IN GROUCHLAND.
