As Jon Favreau figures out where he’ll take Tony Stark in the IRON MAN sequel, Robert Downey Jr. is keeping himself busy with another famous character.

Production is officially underway in London on director Guy Ritchie’s “action adventure mystery” SHERLOCK HOLMES, with RDJ as the celebrated sleuth. The movie also features Rachel McAdams as Sherlock’s squeeze, Jude Law as Watson, Kelly Reilly (PRIDE & PREJUDICE) as Watson’s gal, and Mark Strong as the villain Blackwood.

The official line: In a dynamic new portrayal of Conan Doyle’s famous characters, SHERLOCK HOLMES sends Holmes and his stalwart partner Watson on their latest challenge. Revealing fighting skills as lethal as his legendary intellect, Holmes will battle as never before to bring down a new nemesis and unravel a deadly plot that could destroy the country.
