Shia LaBeouf departs Olivia Wilde’s Don’t Worry Darling, Harry Styles joins

Some may roll their eyes at the idea of boy band member (and successful solo recording artist) Harry Styles getting into an acting career, but he is landing roles in some interesting projects so far. He made his debut in the Christopher Nolan war film DUNKIRK, and now he is joining Florence Pugh and Chris Pine in the psychological thriller DON'T WORRY DARLING, which is being directed by Olivia Wilde. Wilde will also have a "key supporting role" in the film.

Styles is taking over a role that Shia LaBeouf was originally signed on to play. LaBeouf had to drop out of the project due to scheduling issues.

Shane and Carey Van Dyke wrote the initial screenplay for DON'T WORRY DARLING, which has received a rewrite from Katie Silberman. The plot is being kept under wraps, but we know it's set "in an isolated, utopian community in the 1950s California desert". The story centers on

a housewife whose reality begins to crack, revealing a disturbing truth underneath.

It had been announced that Dakota Johnson is also in the cast, but since she's not mentioned in the Harry Styles casting announcement we'll have to wait and see if she'll actually be involved or if she had to step away like LaBeouf.

Wilde and Silberman are producing DON'T WORRY, DARLING with Roy Lee and Miri Yoon of Vertigo Entertainment. Catherine Hardwicke serves as executive producer alongside the Van Dykes. Daria Cercek and Celia Khong are overseeing the project for New Line Cinema.

New Line is said to be hoping to get the film into production this fall.
