Showtime unveils intense Penny Dreadful: City of Angels trailer

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

As the headline says, Showtime has just released a new trailer for their upcoming PENNY DREADFUL: CITY OF ANGELS series, starring Natalie Dormer, Nathan Lane, and STAR TREK's Brent Spiner. Here's the official synopsis:

In darkness, everything comes to light. When a grisly murder shocks Los Angeles in 1938, Detective Tiago Vega and his partner Lewis Michener become embroiled in an epic story that reflects the rich history of the city.

Personally, I say this still looks pretty good! The trailer itself is very stylish and intense, and seems like the show will be touching on pertinent themes of persecution, systemic corruption, and the complex nature of good and evil. I also like how it's not a direct sequel to the first PENNY DREADFUL season, and rather has its own style – playing up noir tropes rather than Gothic horror ones.

Meanwhile, PENNY DREADFUL: CITY OF ANGELS will premiere on Showtime April 26th.

So what do you guys think? You guys sold on the show? Either way, sound off below!
