Shudder to release Eli Roth’s History of Horror podcast in May

Eli Roth's History of Horror

Two months ago, the Shudder streaming service announced that they would be releasing a podcast called Eli Roth's History of Horror: Uncut, which would feature the full interviews Roth and his producers conducted for the AMC documentary series Eli Roth's History of Horror (which can be viewed on Shudder).

Over the course of twelve episodes, Eli Roth’s History of Horror: Uncut will offer listeners hours of never-before-heard, candid conversations between Roth and Stephen King, Edgar Wright, Quentin Tarantino, Diablo Cody, Bryan Fuller, Catherine Hardwicke, Victor LaValle, Tippi Hedren, Bruce Campbell, Josh Hartnett, Greg Nicotero, and Rob Zombie.

Eli Roth’s History of Horror: Uncut features introductions by Shudder curator Sam Zimmerman and is produced by Liam Finn, with sound design by Jeremy Lee and music by Michael Teoli.

Shudder even went ahead with the release of the podcast, but unfortunately they had jumped the gun and put the audio out into the world without consulting Roth. The podcast was pulled so Shudder and Roth could properly collaborate on the release. Now we know when it's coming back.

All episodes of the History of Horror podcast will be available for Shudder subscribers to listen to on Friday, May 3rd. Episode 1, which features Roth's complete conversation with Stephen King, will be released the same day on Apple Podcasts and other platforms. Subsequent episodes will be released twice weekly, on Mondays and Fridays.

Roth has officially given the podcast his stamp of approval:

We had the most incredible, in-depth conversations about the horror genre and so much of that amazing material was unable to fit in the show. I’m so excited for everyone to hear the full interviews, each one of these could have been its own show. There’s so much there beneath the surface of a scary movie, and these interviews will entertain, inform, and help you see the genre and its creators in an entirely new light. I’m very thankful to AMC and Shudder for putting together this amazing collection, and to all the wonderful guests who gave their time to share their thoughts and one-of-a-kind stories."

I'm glad that Shudder and Roth were able to work out any issues quickly, as I look forward to listening to this podcast.
