Oh, the plot of this baby is just too f*cked up not to report on! It’s called THE MAN WHO COLLECTED FOOD and it’s currently shooting in Troy, Michigan on a 25-day schedule. Now that may seem like an odd yet harmless title, however once you ingest the synopsis, you’re sure to be thinking otherwise. Dig in:
The movie follows Miguel, the title character, who feels compelled to keep the food he hoards unopened and in mint condition. Therefore, he needs to live off something. The innocence of a collector, mixed with the savageness of a cannibal. That’s right, Miguel eats human flesh in order to survive. Kept in his walk-in freezer are two kinds of people: long-dead ones with missing pieces, hanging like meat for when he wants a simple dinner, and live, gagged ones for those times he feels like “playing with his food.”
Ugh, that’s some sick shit! Outstanding! Plus, it actually adds something original to the whole “cannibals living among us” genre. Real food is too beautiful for him to eat! I love it!
FOOD was written, produced, and directed by Matt Roth (no relation to Eli) and as usual, promises a plethora of gore. The Michigan-native stars include Mike Kelly, Gary Wagner, Lila Miller, Russ Fox and Joey Uretta. There’s no official release date yet, but Roth hopes to have it out by early next year.
