Silent Hill 2: Playing with Fear celebrates 20 years of the horror video game

Our video series Playing with Fear, which is all about horror video games, got its start with an episode dedicated to one of the most popular horror games of all time, Resident Evil. In the new episode of the show, we’re setting our sights on another very popular game franchise, Silent Hill – but instead of focusing on the first game in the series, we’re jumping right to Silent Hill 2, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Celebrate that anniversary with us by checking out the video embedded above!

Silent Hill 2 has the following synopsis (from IMDb):

James Sunderland receives a letter from his late wife telling him to meet her in their “special place” in Silent Hill. Upon arrival, he finds himself sinking deeper and deeper into the unknown, and toward a despair from which he may never return.

Episodes in the Playing with Fear series take

a look at the most impactful, successful, and scariest video games throughout the history of the medium and deciding if they’re still worth playing today.

Playing with Fear is Written and Narrated by Andrew Hatfield, Edited by Tyler Nichols, Produced by John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.

While I have played the first Silent Hill game (and beat it, but I did use a walkthrough guide to do so), I never did play Silent Hill 2, so this episode of Playing with Fear showed me what I missed out on. Are you a fan of the game? Let us know by leaving a comment below.
