Now this bad boy sounds pretty damn cool! Check it: With the bat-tastic success of THE DARK KNIGHT (I already saw it twice), that apt pupil himself, Mr. Bryan Singer (right), is looking to bring another comic book colossus with a dark edge to the big screen. The flick is called CAPESHOOTERS and it will be based on an upcoming graphic novel by Rob Liefeld, one of the founders of Image Comics. Take a look at the story’s synopsis:
The graphic novel follows two down-on-their-luck slackers who specialize in shooting videos of superheroes. They find themselves on the run when they uncover evidence that a legendary superhero actually is evil.
Now there’s something original. I think it’s got the potential to be pretty big, especially with Singer on board. He’s certainly a superhero aficionado with his X-MEN, X-MEN 2, and SUPERMAN RETURNS all grossing hundreds of millions of dollars. Simply put, the dude knows his shit.
The script for CAPESHOOTERS will be written by J.P. Lavin and Chad Damiani. No word yet on a director or any potential stars. I’ll be keeping an eye on this possible franchise-starter, though.
