got the heads up on some exciting Sitges Film Festival of Catalonia
news! This year
the esteemed
“Time Machine Awards” (Máquina del Tiempo) will be given to a
slew of genre favorites. Here are the Award recipients:
Howard Berger
(LAND OF THE DEAD) will receive the
Máquina del Tiempo on October 8th (1:00), before
the screening of the Masters of Horror episodes Cigarette Burns and
Homecoming for which, along with Greg Nicotero (both from the
KNB EFX Group), he was in charge of the special makeup effects.
Alejandro Amenábar
(THE OTHERS) will receive the award on October 12th
(23:00), for his solid contribution to the Spanish horror genre.
Alejandro
Jodorowsky will be holding a Cabaret Místico session
on the October 12th (12:00), where he will receive the
award for his professional career.
Japanese director
Kiyoshi Kurosawa
(KAIRO) will be featured in
a retrospective
in Orient Express, which includes the premiere of Retribution,
on Friday October 13th. He will be awarded the Máquina
del Tiempo the same day at 21:15.
In addition,
Sitges 06 will be awarding the Honorary María for Fantasy Film
Distribution to Lluis de Val
López, Chairman of Manga Films. The award-giving
presentation will be on October 6th at 18:00.
