
We’ve known since May of 2008 that Steve Niles and director Jay Russell aimed to bring the 30 DAYS OF NIGHT creator’s Frankenstein-esque tale WAKE THE DEAD to the big screen. Obviously, since then and now, there hasn’t been a whole lot of progress. At least, not that we’ve been privy to. But according to the LA Times’ Hero Complex, the project may just have gotten the boost it needs.
Slash – yes, that Slash – has formed a production company imaginatively labeled Slasher Films, and one of the first flicks on its slate is WAKE THE DEAD. Russell (WATERHORSE) is still attached to direct.
“Horror where you care about the characters and story,” Niles told the LA Times. “With ‘Wake the Dead,’ Jay Russell, Slash and I hope to make a horror movie that sticks with you long after you’ve seen it.”
The comic carries this brief synopsis. College student Victor works to reverse death, not knowing what a can of worms he’s opening up. I think that says it all…
