Slumber Party Massacre remake gets digital release, available to rent or buy

The Banana Splits Movie director Danishka Esterhazy’s Slumber Party Massacre, a remake of the 1982 cult classic The Slumber Party Massacre (watch it HERE), had its premiere at Fantastic Fest before airing on Syfy this past weekend, and now the film has received a digital release. It’s available to rent or buy at THIS LINK.

Written by Suzanne Keilly (Leprechaun Returns), this Slumber Party Massacre has the following synopsis:

A slumber party turns into a bloodbath when a power drill-wielding psychopath disrupts the fun.

The film stars Frances Sholto-Douglas, Jane de Wet, Alex McGregor, Nathan Castle, Masali Baduza, Schelaine Bennett, Arthur Falko, Hannah Gonera, Michael Lawrence Potter, Richard White, Rob van Vuuren, Jennifer Steyn, Richard Wright-Firth, Reem Koussa, Larissa Crafford-Lazarus, Mila Rayne, Dean Goldblum, and Reze-Tiana Wessels.

The new Slumber Party Massacre was produced in partnership with Blue Ice Pictures. Bob Emmer, Garson Foos, Jordan Fields, and Brent Haynes served as executive producers.

Shout! Studios holds the North American distribution rights, but they haven’t yet revealed when they plan to give the film a physical media release. We’ll let you know when that information is made available.

I didn’t catch the Syfy broadcast, but this movie’s title already guaranteed that I would be watching it at some point regardless of its quality. Thankfully, our own Alex Maidy gave it a positive review – you can read his 8/10 review HERE – so it sounds like watching the new Slumber Party Massacre will be a good time. I will be checking it out as soon as possible. We’ll see how it ranks for me in comparison to the original three films. I don’t think it has a chance of surpassing the original Slumber Party Massacre or, my favorite, Slumber Party Massacre II, but it could be possible for it to beat Slumber Party Massacre III. I have never been able to get into that one.
