Smallville’s Michael Rosenbaum wants to return to Lex Luthor for Man of Steel sequel

JoBloJoBlo

Fans of Smallville no doubt know and recognize the tour de force performance that actor Michael Rosenbaum brought to the role of Lex Luthor throughout his tenure on the show. He was a terrific villain and played great against Clark Kent (Tom Welling), to the point that they were like Cain and Abel. Rosenbaum brought a lot to the role and played a signature Lex Luthor to be sure. Now that Smallville is done and MAN OF STEEL is taking the Superman mainstream mantle, the casting of Lex Luthor is in the air, as director Zack Snyder has teased his potential appearance in the follow-up. There are many good choices out there, but Rosenbaum has an idea for who he thinks should be the next Lex: Himself.

I’m not altogether opposed to the idea myself. Although, I think the resounding opinion would be that Rosenbaum already had his shot, I think there’s real possibility there. He’s much older than when he started out in Smallville (and older than Cavill) and has a terrific presence as the devious, brilliant character. Ultimately, this is a long shot, but I think producers should take a hard look at the possibility. It would be a ballsy and interesting choice, for sure.

Rosenbaum recently wrapped his first directorial feature OLD DAYS, which will debut later this year. MAN OF STEEL is currently in theaters.
