Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Knuckles, plot synopsis, Paramount Pictures

I have to imagine that, right about now, Sonic is wagging his finger at the United States Copyright Office after they leaked a plot synopsis for Sonic the Hedgehog 2. According to a recent post, the plot for Paramount's highly-anticipated sequel reads as follows:

After settling in Green Hills, Sonic is ready for more freedom, and Tom and Maddie agree to leave him home while they go on vacation. But, no sooner are they gone, when Dr. Robotnik comes back, this time with a new partner, Knuckles, in search of an emerald that has the power to both build and destroy civilizations. Sonic teams up with his own sidekick, Tails, and together they embark on a journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands. Being directed by Jeff Fowler, and starring Jim Carrey, James Marsden, and Ben Schwartz.

Whoops! It sounds like everyone's suspicions have been confirmed, and both Dr. Robotnik and Knuckles will be a key part of the new film. I have to ask, though. Who in their right mind would leave Sonic unattended while they go on vacation? I mean, I get it, you've got to live your life, but really? I bet Sega's Blue Blur doesn't wait five minutes after they leave to start causing trouble. Of course, seeing as this information hasn't been officially released, there's a chance that details related to the plot could change during the sequel's development.

Should the details of the leaked plot prove to be true, it's pretty awesome that Dr. Robotnik is returning for the sequel and that Tails and Knuckles will be properly introduced as well. Both Tails and Knuckles have been an important part of the Sonic Universe for generations, and fans are bound to be excited about them making a big-screen debut.

What do you think of the supposed plot for Sonic the Hedgehog 2? Are you upset that Amy and Big the Cat have yet to be mentioned? Maybe the filmmakers are saving them for the inevitable third film in the franchise? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
