“Sons of Anarchy” creator Kurt Sutter, along with “X-Files” vet John Shiban, are collaborating with FX to bring us an action-horror show called “Lucas Strand”, according to Deadline.

The show, sporting a premise that strikes me as a bit familiar, is said to feature both episodic and serialized elements. It follows…

… the salvation quest of a damaged former special ops soldier who has been chosen to traverse time and place to hunt down and kill Hell’s law-breaking demons.

We’ve seen the old “demons escape from hell and only one (probably supernatural) man can bring them back” story plenty of times, but with Sutter’s gritty talent at the helm, I’m willing to bet this one’s going to be a nasty piece of work.

For his part, Shiban has a long history in genre television; in addition to “X-Files,” he’s worked on “Supernatural”, “The Lone Gunmen” and “Torchwood.” He also directed the straight-to-video horror hit REST STOP.

“Lucas Strand” has received a series script development deal from FX.
