The last we told you about Rod Lurie’s STRAW DOGS remake came way back in August! More than half a year ago?! What’s the deal? Well whatever the ‘deal’ is… it isn’t good.
You see word coming from Sony Screen Gems is that STRAW DOGS is trading in it’s February 11th, 2011 release date for September 16, 2011. That’s a whopping 7 months people! Unfortunately no details are given but one can speculate… I’m sure you’ve got your theories, so spit them below and see what everyone else thinks!
STRAW DOGS stars James Marsden, Kate Bosworth (below), Laz Alonso, Alexander Skarsgård, Walton Goggins, Willa Holland, Dominic Purcell and Jimmy f*cking Woods! I’ve always found Bosworth to be insanely beautiful and I’m actually a fan of James Marsden. Sue me. But alas Marsden is no Dustin Hoffman. Throw in the great James Woods and I’m digging this cast.
Los Angeles screenwriter David Sumner moves with his wife to her hometown in the deep South. Once there, tensions build in their marriage and old conflicts re-emerge with the locals, leading to a violent confrontation.
So that’s that. Hopefully word breaks soon on why DOGS got pushed back so much… Didn’t that hurt THE WOLFMAN? Then again it worked for SHUTTER ISLAND. Time will tell what STRAW DOGS’ fate will be. The film is now set to hit theaters everywhere September 16, 2011, well over a year away. As always be sure to keep it here for more as we hear it!
