Sophie Skelton gets face time with Johnathon Schaech in Day of the Dead pic

Filming is well underway on the second remake of George A. Romero's 1985 classic DAY OF THE DEAD (Steve Miner directed a previous remake that was released in 2008), with director Hèctor Hernández Vicens at the helm. Last week we shared a few pictures from the set, two of which showed Johnathon Schaech's "half-human, half zombie" character Max getting in the face of the heroine, played by Sophie Skelton. In one image, Skelton's character was looking the blood-drooling Max in the eyes, in the next her face was turned away, with a smudge of blood on her cheek.

A new image posted to the Instagram account of producer Christa Campbell appears to fill in the blank between those two images, showing Max licking Skelton's cheek.

I've been wondering what a "half-human, half zombie" would be ever since hearing that description, and judging by this picture part of the answer is that the extra human element makes the zombie a bit of a lascivious creep.

Skelton and Schaech's co-star Jeff Gum also shared a behind-the-scenes image on his Instagram account, showing him and Skelton hanging out on a dingy set, Skelton wearing an outfit that is reminiscent of something the original DAY's heroine Sarah (Lori Cardille) would wear.

This new version of DAY OF THE DEAD is a post-apocalyptic tale that

follows a former medical student tormented by a dark figure from her past, who happens to be a half-human, half-zombie hell-bent on destroying her.

Also in the cast are Marcus Vanco, Lorina Kamburova, Nick Loeb, Rachel O’Meara, Debbie Sherman, Luke Cousins, Nathan Cooper, and Cristina Serafini.
