Spierigs on Day

Yesterday I pointed you in the direction of an interview with one of the stars of the vampire epic DAYBREAKERS (check it out HERE), who gave us a scare that the film has been pushed back to a 2009 release, and that it might be going straight to DVD.

The Spierig Brothers, the directors of the film, got wind of this and decided to put the record straight-they wrote in to B-D and dished the real scoop as to the delay. Here’s a taste:

Yes it’s true that the film has been delayed until 2009, this is simply because the ’08 slate is so full, and yes it will be a theatrical release… To put it simply, the studio loves the movie and wants to see it released correctly, so it’s about finding the right date.

Good to hear! Considering DAYBREAKERS is from the guys who gave us UNDEAD, it stars Ethan Hawke, Willem Dafoe, and Isabel Lucas (below), and it’s a vampire flick set in the future–I can wait a bit longer if that means it’ll be released properly on a date that will help its success.

To check out the rest of the note, click HERE, and get ready for DAYBREAKERS sometime in 2009.
