Spies Like Us again?

JoBloJoBlo

You know that super neato, totally original idea you have for a movie? Write it down, and then wad up the paper and throw it in your fireplace, because you’ll need it to help heat your abode — Hollywood isn’t interested. (Unless you turn it into a comic or videogame first, then they’ll be all over it!) The development execs are in the process of remaking any movie that’s older than the eggs in my fridge, and they’re checking off their way through the list and are currently up to the mid-80s. Hey, SPIES LIKE US! I remember that — time for a remake!

Yep, Warner Bros. is eyeballing director John Landis’ moderately amusing comedy, a Chevy Chase and Dan Aykroyd vehicle (which also introduced the barely clad bod of Vanessa Angel) about two basement-level CIA employees who get recruited to act as unwitting decoys on a secret mission.

The studio (along with Ron Howard and Brian Grazer’s Imagine Entertainment) has apparently tasked the writers of EUROTRIP with bringing the funny forward from 1985 to the present, because our actual current government’s ineptitude with intelligence isn’t comical enough.
