Starz has cancelled Ash vs. Evil Dead

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

I don't mean to knock anyone off their high on this fine April 20th afternoon, but word has just come in that Starz has decided to cancel Bruce Campbell's follow-up to his cult classic EVIL DEAD film series, ASH VS. EVIL DEAD. As of now, the show's April 29 finale will serve as the end of the road for Ash and his deadite-slaughtering adventures, on the channel.

In talking about the station's decision to cancel the program, Carmi Zlotnik, president of programming at Starz, said that "Ash vs. Evil Dead has taken audiences on a wild ride for three seasons thanks to the fantastic performances and creative efforts of Sam, Bruce, Rob and the entire cast and crew. We are proud to send the show out with a bang … and a splat."

While ASH VS. EVIL DEAD started strong on the channel, numbers began to dip with each concurrent effort to deliver another season of gore-tastic exploits from one of horror's most iconic figures. Campbell responded to news about the cancellation by saying "Ash vs. Evil Dead has been the ride of a lifetime," said the BUBBA HO-TEP alum. "Ash Williams was the role of a lifetime. It was an honor to reunite with Evil Dead partners Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi to give our tireless fans another taste of the outrageous horror/comedy they demanded. I will always be grateful to Starz for the opportunity to revisit the franchise that launched our careers."

The series finale will see the Ghostbeaters put to the ultimate test to defeat a global demon infestation whose epicenter is Elk Grove as Ash and company gear up for battle one last time to save the world.

ASH VS. EVIL DEAD will be dead and buried after its upcoming series finale which is set to air on April 29th. So long, Ash, and thanks for all the fish.
