Director Steven Soderbergh will be calling it quits after completing his next two movies.
He told Studio 360 this, “It’s just time. When you reach the point where you’re like if I have to get into a van to do another scout I’m just going to shoot myself, it’s time to let somebody else who’s still excited about getting in the van, get in the van.”
As you might know, Soderbergh got his break with SEX, LIES, and VIDEOTAPE then graduated to bigger studio films like the OCEAN’S ELEVEN franchise, TRAFFIC, and ERIN BROCKOVICH.
“For the last three years I’ve been turning down everything that comes my way. You’re not gonna have Steven Soderbergh to kick around anymore.” Soderbergh says his decision was prompted by “a sense of having been there before” on an artistic level and does not want to repeat himself.
The last two films for the director will be LIBERACE with Michael Douglas and THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E which will star pal, George Clooney. Due out this year for Soderbergh is CONTAGION starring Matt Damon, which will release Oct 21.
