Adam Wingard's film adaptation of the anime DEATH NOTE has just been snapped up by Netflix, but things haven't slowed down one bit. The cast, which already includes Nat Wolff and Margaret Qualley, has just been joined by Keith Stanfield, whose rise to stardom has been swift.

As recently as 2014, Stanfield played a faceless goon in THE PURGE: ANARCHY, but since then he has appeared in SELMA and DOPE, hitting it big with the N.W.A. biopic STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON. There is no word yet on what character he will be playing.

Wolff will play

a student who discovers a supernatural notebook that allows him to kill anyone simply by writing the victim’s name. A cat-and-mouse game ensues when he’s tracked by a reclusive police officer.

DEATH NOTE is being produced by Roy Lee, Dan Lin, Jason Hoffs, and Masi Oka. Doug Davison and Brian Witten serve as executive producers. They plan to start shooting this summer.
