Stranger Things’ David Harbour Plays With Fire, Wants People To Text Him

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

David Harbour, star of STRANGER THINGS, is himself no stranger to doing things for his fans who reach out to him on social media (such as when he officiated a wedding dressed as Hellboy or took senior photos with a fan). He seems to be a nice guy who is grateful for his fame, and willing to give back to his fans in unprecedentedly gregarious ways.

Which in some ways makes the Instagram post he wrote a few days ago – where he tells people to literally text him – both surprising (because it's insane, given the nature of the average internet comment section) while also being totally him. Anyway, here's what he had to say in his post:

"Text me (please not just ‘i love stranger things’ but with info about yourself, where are you? what do you do? Instagram handle? How’s money and work in this time? How’s family? Anything else you feel like might be interesting for me to know about you during all this?) 1 917 540 5294. Clearly, in the overwhelming nature of the numbers thing, I won’t get to reply to everyone, and I may not even see yours (apologies in advance if that happens) but I will try to compile some database of fans and friends to see if there are easy ways to connect and help each other in the future. If I am completely overwhelmed by this and it is a disaster I will keep you posted."

And here's an accompanying Instagram video, where he expands on what he wants to do with this, including possibly helping out with creative endeavors:

Now, while it's obvious this isn't Harbour's actual personal phone number (he's not completely insane), it's still cool that it seems like he'll at least be personally looking and responding regardless, which is a nice gesture, especially as the existential dread of an even more extended quarantine becomes a horrifying reality (I assume. Being a horror news writer, life hasn't changed much for me).
