Dark Horse Comics has announced (via CBR.com) that they will be releasing a four-issue anthology series called Stranger Things: Tales from Hawkins, which is set in the town of Hawkins, Indiana – that place where so many weird things happen in the hit Netflix series Stranger Things. Stranger Things: Tales from Hawkins will “uncover the untold stories of the eponymous town that slipped through the cracks on the small screen”. The first issue of the series will be reaching store shelves on February 8th.

The series is coming to us from writer Jody Houser (Star Wars: Thrawn) and artists Caio Filipe (Stranger Things: Summer Special), Sunando C (End After End), and Giorgia Gio Esposito (Dr. Who). CBR also unveiled four different covers for the first issue, and you can check those out at the bottom of this article. The covers were created by Dan Jackson, Kyle Lambert, Diego Galindo, and Danny Luckert.

The first issue of Stranger Things: Tales from Hawkins is set during the same time as the first season of the Netflix show, the fall of 1983. Here’s the synopsis: “Two friends head out into the woods with their rifles and a six-pack. These would-be hunters find themselves the prey of a nightmarish beast who has claimed the wilderness around town and everything inside it, including them.

So it’s about two hunters crossing paths with the Demogorgon, which should make for an exciting story.

I’m behind on all of the Stranger Things comics that have been released, but I am interested in checking them out at some point. I’m especially interested in Stranger Things: Science Camp, which was about Dustin and Suzie at Camp Know Where. A four issue series that was also written by Jody Houser.
