Variety is reporting that Fox Atomic, the genre-loving studio that brought us THE HILLS HAVE EYES (among others), has picked up the film rights to Kathryn Mackel’s novel, THE SURROGATE.
Rod and Bruce Taylor (who also wrote THE BRAVE ONE) are tackling the script based on the novel, with Ralph Winter, Susana Zepeda, Robin Guthrie, and Deborah Giarratana producing. So what’s THE SURROGATE all about? Check it:
[THE SURROGATE] revolves around a couple who hire a surrogate to carry their child and find out mid-term that the surrogate is insane.
That’s probably the one time you don’t wanna find out they’re insane, don’t ya think? In the beginning, great. After she gives birth, not great, but not bad either, since you don’t have to deal with her anymore. But mid-way? Ouch. That’s gotta suck. But just how insane is her? Hopefully she’ll be a grade A nutjob–those are always the most fun and interesting to watch.
Stick around for more on THE SURROGATE, which should be ramping up as soon as that script’s finished, in the next couple of months.
