Less than a month ago we told you how how George A. Romero’s next film, then with the working title …OF THE DEAD, had scored an official title in the form of SURVIVAL OF THE DEAD. Oh joy. Now I’ve said it before that I thought ….OF THE DEAD would’ve worked for the title. People seemed so used to it that introducing a new title wasn’t needed… I suppose it was. So we now have SURVIVAL OF THE DEAD.

Well we’ve been teased with a couple stills here and there but we haven’t had much to tell us what to expect with SURVIVAL OF THE DEAD… until today! Over in our videos section we’ve got the rough production trailer for Romero’s latest! Just scroll down below to check it out!

So what’s the verdict? I’m getting a classic NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD vibe here… do you agree? Frankly I’m not sure what to think of SURVIVAL OF THE DEAD… it’s not flashy that’s for sure… but that’s when Romero is at his best. Perhaps it’s a bit too bland though? Either way it’s a zombie flick from George A. Romero so you can bet I’ll be checking it out! Here’s the lengthly synopsis: In a world where the dead rise to menace the living, rogue soldier Crocket (Alan Van Sprang) leads a band of military dropouts to refuge from the endless chaos. As they search for a place ” where the shit won’t get you, ” they meet banished patriarch Patrick O’Flynn (played with zeal by Kenneth Welsh), who promises a new Eden on the fishing and ranching outpost Plum Island. The men arrive, only to find themselves caught in an age-old battle between O’Flynn’s family and rival clan the Muldoons. It turns out that Patrick was expelled from the isle for believing that the only good zombie is a dead zombie, while the Muldoons think it’s wrong to dispatch afflicted loved ones, attempting to look after their undead kinfolk until a cure is found. But their bid for stability on the homestead has turned perverse: the undead are chained inside their homes, pretending to live normal lives – and the consequences are bloody. A desperate struggle for survival will determine whether the living and the dead can coexist.

SURVIVAL OF THE DEAD is currently making the festival rounds including Austin’s Fantastic Fest, so be sure to keep it here for more news as we hear it… like a release date?!
