Fans of THE RING and DARK WATER realize that it wasn’t just Hideo Nakata’s direction that made the originals so intense. They both came from the novels of Koji Suzuki, and he hasn’t exactly been sitting on his butt.
The good folks over at SuicideGirls.com scored an interview with the man. In addition to talking about his sequels to THE RING called Spiral and Loop, as well as his next project which he describes as quantum mechanics horror, Suzuki indicates that he’s ready to take a shot at the scripting game, too.
SG: Do you have any desire to write screenplays?
KOJI SUZUKI: If Ring 3 was to be made in the US I would love to write the screenplay for that. Ring Two diverged from the original story but since Spiral is the real sequel I would want it to have elements of that in it. I would like a movie sequel that’s not just a repetition of previous works. I would love to show that a movie sequel could actually be a very good movie.
