Swamp Thing TV series headed our way via James Wan

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Nice! It looks like good old SWAMP THING is creeping back out the murky waters and headed to TV via none other than James Wan! The new "drama" will air on DC's upcoming VOD service DC Universe and has a script-to-series order. That means if the script comes in well, the drama would then be picked up straight to series.

Mark Verheiden and Gary Dauberman (screenwriter, STEPHEN KING'S IT) will serve as showrunners on the live-action drama and will pen the script based on DC characters created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson. Wan will exec produce alongside Michael Clear, Verheiden and Dauberman, with Rob Hackett set as co-exec producer.

Synopsis:

The drama follows what happens when CDC researcher Abby Arcane returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus. There, she develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland — only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, both horrifying and wondrous — and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all.

The DC Digital service launches sometime in 2018.
